RICHARD AMBERG is the founder of the firm and for over thirty years has been one of the most respected criminal defense attorneys in Michigan.  In handling thousands and thousands of cases, including over one hundred Federal Jury Trials, Richard has won countless cases all over the country and helped many people with a second chance at life.  Handling many high profile cases, including the Young Boys, Home Invaders, and the Oakland County Jail Suit, Richard has earned his status as a criminal defense legend. 

Richard started his career in the Navy, being honorably discharged due to injury after four years of service.  He attended the University of Connecticut and the University of Detroit Law School.  He settled in Metro Detroit and has practiced solely criminal defense ever since. 


JIM AMBERG is Richard’s son and the managing member of the firm.  Ever since Jim was a teenager, he worked for his father, learning the ins and outs of striving to win every criminal case.  After becoming an attorney at twenty-five years old, Jim immediately continued the family tradition by winning cases.  In fact, when Jim was only twenty-six, he successfully argued the legally significant case of United States v Presley in the United States 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.  In a published opinion, the Court upheld Jim’s victory at the trial level in ensuring Mr. Presley received immediate release from his life sentence.

Jim has won trials, motions, dismissals, and has handled everything from major drug conspiracy to murder cases.  He was recently represented Joni Holbrook in the highly publicized Holbrook Murder Case and has won some of the most difficult major felony assault cases.  Additionally, his motions are used by many of his criminal defense attorney colleagues throughout Michigan.  Jim has been named a Superlawyer by Superlawyer Magazine, a Top Lawyer by DBusiness Magazine, and has a rating of Superb by


JESSE WILLIAMS started his career in the military, where he honorably served his country on the front lines of the First Gulf War.  After finishing his duty, Jesse attended Michigan State University and the Thomas Jefferson School of Law.  Ever since passing the bar, Jesse has established himself as a major force in the criminal defense community, having successfully represnted Joni Holbrook in the Holbrook Murder Case, winning the shocking Vandenberg case, and handling the biggest narcotics bust in Benzie County History.  Jesse is known statewide as an expert of Medical Marihuana defense and recently intervened on behalf of Michigan Medical Marijuana patients to stop the Federal Government from obtaining medical records of Medical Marijuana patients.

As a resident of Beulah Michigan, when not fighting for his clients Jesse can be found enjoying Grand Traverse Bay on his boat, motorcycling through the Leelanau Peninsula, or having an ice cream at the Cherry Hut restaurant.
